Connect GitHub Change Signals

Bring repository and deployment changes into OpsBell so responders can see what changed around an incident.

Before you start

  • Decide which repositories should feed changes into the workspace.
  • Make sure the related systems already exist in the catalog.

Do this

  1. Open Settings > Integrations > GitHub.
  2. Connect or install the GitHub app for the repositories you want to use.
  3. Save the deployment webhook path where your deployment system can send change events.
  4. Connect repositories and environments so change events carry enough context to be useful.
  5. Verify that incoming changes appear in Changes.
  6. Map repositories and services back to the right systems so incident responders can see meaningful scope instead of unmapped noise.

Check it worked

  • GitHub is connected in integrations.
  • Change events appear in the Changes feed.
  • The feed items are associated with the right systems when that mapping is available.

If it does not work

  • If no events arrive, check the webhook path and repository installation first.
  • If events are unmapped, fix the system linkage before you expect change intelligence to help during incidents.
  • If the feed is noisy, reduce the sources instead of asking responders to ignore it.
