Guide
Manage Users, Teams, and Roles
Keep the responder directory accurate so routing, permissions, and ownership all work from the same source.
Before you start
- Decide whether the user should be local or synced from Okta.
- Know which teams and roles the person should belong to.
Do this
- Open
Users. - Create or edit the user profile.
- Set the identity source, name, email, and any direct contact details you want OpsBell to use.
- Add Slack or Teams identifiers if those channels will be used for delivery.
- Assign the user to the right teams.
- Assign the roles that control what they can access in the workspace.
- Keep inactive users disabled instead of leaving them available for routing.
- Use the same view to manage team and role records when the organization changes.
Check it worked
- The user appears in the directory with the right team and role memberships.
- The identity source is correct.
- The person can participate in coverage and notification flows as intended.
If it does not work
- If the person is synced from Okta, fix the upstream identity instead of fighting local edits.
- If delivery channels are missing, configure the relevant integrations before editing the user again.
- If the team structure is unclear, fix that first so coverage and ownership do not drift.
